Nail Pattern Boldness: Le Big Party

Well, hello there, le You!  It's le me!  Today I have for you a couple of swatches of le AWESOME Le Big Party from Nail Pattern Boldness.  First saw this fun mix of matte glitter on Lavish Layerings (NOT the only blog I follow, swear) and stalked NPB until she re-stocked.  As you know, I bought 6 glitters at that time, and this is the 3rd of those that I've tried.  It is by far my favorite, both in formula and in look.  The glitter in Le Big Party is densely packed, yet it somehow manages to escape the usual thick and goopy consistency of other glitter polishes.  You could easily get full opacity in 2 coats, maybe even 1 if you have bitty nails.  I prefer it layered, though, which is what I've done below!

Seche Vite shrinkage, you may go to hell.

This is 1 coat of the Knight, 3 coats of Girly Bits Cu Blue, 1 coat of the Shield, 1 coat of Le Big Party, 1 coat of Seche Vite.  I wore Cu Blue on its own for a couple of days, but couldn't get it to photograph even close to how it looks in person. So I slapped some glitter on to show you instead.  Now, these are not the best swatches, even for me, but I wanted to show them anyway. The plan was to apply Gelous before posting to the blog, but I ended up picking the mani off during a Friday evening showing of "The Bourne Legacy".  <spoiler alert>Movie SUCKED.  Not at all worthy of the Bourne franchise.  There wasn't nearly enough ass kicking, and the story line was a bit redundant.  And really, what good is a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne?</spoiler alert> These photos are the only ones I have before picking off the polish.  Side note, don't ever pick off your polish.  It's murder on the nails.  Check out the Lavish Layerings link above for a better representation.  I plan on swatching this again at a later date and will use either Gelous or Glitter Food (which I haven't bought yet, but intend to) so it doesn't look so gritty.  Even gritty, it still rocked my socks.

What the hell kind of nail polish blog refers you to another blog for better pictures of the polish its featuring?

Nail Pattern Boldness: Don't Drop That Spoon

I received a package in the mail last week that contained six bombs.  Six glitter bombs!  Six matte glitter bombs!
Ka-POW!
Nail Pattern Boldness.  This dadgum indie polish craze is going to bankrupt me, I just know it.  I'm holding Jenny from Lavish Layerings responsible.  She keeps posting swatches of these gorgeous ZOMGMUSTHAVENOW polishes.  What am I supposed to do but go buy them?

The first one I tried is Don't Drop That Spoon.  It's the blue beauty third from the right in the above lineup.  All swatches below are 1 coat of The Knight, 2 coats of Sation Oh My Oceania, 1 coat of DDTS, 2 coats of Gelous, and 1 coat of The Shield.

Outside in the blazing hot sun

Getting the Juke spit-shined, but without the spit.

In the loo

Outside again, sun behind some clouds.

Walking the Maglet

That's really how I hold the leash.  NOT.

That's shrinkage, not tip wear.

The description on Etsy says that Don't Drop that Spoon is "an assortment of turquoise and light green colored matte glitters", but I feel like not all of the glitter is matte.  I'm looking at the bottle right now, and there are some definite twinkles going on.

See the blue twinkles?

Blurred.  Blue and silver twinkles.

Next to Floam.  No Floamy twinkles, but a few in DDTS

Blurry Floam.  No twinkles.

Maybe it's just that those particular glitter pieces are not quite as matte, because this polish is definitely not a super-sparkler like regular glitters.  Whatever you want to call it, it is really pretty, and I love it!  I'm not completely sold on my choice of base color, though.  Can I talk to you for a minute about the disappointment that is Oh My Oceania?  I first saw swatches of this color over on Let Them Have Polish.  That pretty, shimmery turquoise called to me so I bought it.  I was so sad when it came in because the shimmer is non-existent on the nail, the formula sucks, and the fat brush is awful!  This coming from someone who is a fan of the Insta-Dri spatula!  Ugh.  I Googled other swatches and they all looked the same as the ones from LTHP. Maybe I got a bad bottle.  I don't know, but it gets a big ol' BOO from me.
